Contest Rules 2010
CONTEST ELIGIBILITY
- A ticket represents a chance to win $5000 CASH.
- You must be 18 years of age or older to purchase a ticket and qualify under Oklahoma law.
- No multi-party ticket entries are allowed.
- The ticket stub must be completed with the name, address, and phone number of the contributor.
- Raffle tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.
- All ticket sales are final.
- The purchase of a raffle ticket is not deductible as a charitable donation for federal and state income tax purposes.
- This contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. It is void where prohibited by law.
ODDS OF WINNING
- There will be no more than 1,500 (one thousand five hundred) tickets sold for this raffle.
- Each ticket cost $25 and will be entered separately in the drawing.
- Each ticket has a separate and equal chance to win $5000 CASH.
- The winning ticket will be selected at random and all participants have an equal opportunity to win.
- There is no possibility of a tie in this raffle.
DRAWING INFORMATION
- The drawing will be held in the evening on March 7, 2009 at UCO during Beau Geste XXI, A LEAGUE OF OUR OWN
- At the drawing, five ticket stubs will be drawn from the raffle box by the MC under the supervision of the Beau Geste Chairman and Head of the School. Those tickets will be assigned a number from one through five according to the order they were drawn. Should the winner fail to claim the the #2 ticket holder shall be deemed the winner and so on until the prize is claimed.
NOTIFICATION OF WINNER
- Winners need not be present to win.
- The winner will be notified by telephone and registered mail within 48 hours of the drawing at the telephone number and address provided on the purchased raffle ticket. The winner’s name will also be posted on this website within 48 hours of the drawing.
- The winner must be at least 18 years of age and be a legal U.S. citizen.
- The winner has 14 (fourteen) days to take delivery of the prize, or forfeits all claims thereto, with no substitution or alternative prize available.
- However, the winner may have up to 30 (thirty) calendar days of drawing date to finalize the process (including payment of taxes, withholding, etc).
- The winner’s name, hometown, and photo may be printed in select media and on this website.
TAXES AND IRS RULES
- The winner is subject to any and all federal, state, and local income taxes and other taxes due to their acceptance of $5000 CASH and the law, regulations, procedures, rules, and directives applicable to raffles.
- All federal, state, and local laws relating to the transfer, ownership, and use of the prize apply.
- The winner is solely responsible for all taxes, fees, and all expenses in claiming the prize.
- Winner will be required to pay a withholding percentage (~33%) of the fair market value of the prize prior to taking possession of the prize, to comply with IRS for Federal and State with holding requirements. This is to comply with the IRS ruling that requires that tax withholding on prizes of $5000 or greater must be paid upon award and distribution by the organization hosting the raffle.
- The IRS has taken the position that amounts paid for chances to participate in lotteries, raffles, or similar programs are not gifts and therefore, the price of entry does not qualify as a deductible charitable contribution. The value of your winnings is considered taxable income.
- Please consult your financial advisor to discuss any impact on your personal taxable income. A W-2G income tax form will be filed and sent to the winner for the 2009 tax year.
- Government rules regarding withholding can change without notice. The Beau Geste Committee will follow IRS rules in effect at the time the prize is awarded.
LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY
- Winner agrees to accept the prize in its “AS IS, WHERE IS” condition, with absolutely no express or implied warranties of any kind by the Beau Geste Committee or SMES.
- By participating in this raffle, entrants and the winner accepting the prize release the Beau Geste Committee, SMES and any other persons, organizations, and business involved from any and all liability with respect to participation in the promotion and possession or use of the prize awarded.
- Liability to the Beau Geste Committee, SMES and any other persons, organizations, and business involved is limited to refund of ticket contributions.
- The determination of the Beau Geste Committee and SMES is final and binding with respect to any matter arising out of the interpretation of application of these terms and conditions.

- Net proceeds will directly benefit St. Mary’s Episcopal School in Edmond, an Oklahoma 501c(7) not for profit organization.
